Other Characters: Caesar, Fugo, Shio, Josuke, and Byleth

Character Name: Rika
Canon: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Canon History: on Bulbapedia
But since Bulbapedia is surprisingly unclear on Rika's involvement with Scarlet & Violet's plot, here's a quick rundown:
- Being one of Paldea's Elite Four, her involvement is primarily in the Victory Road plotline.
- She appears along with Hassel--a fellow member of the Paldean Elite Four and the art teacher at Naranja/Uva Academy--who introduces her. She takes an interest in the player and encourages them to keep tackling the gyms, saying that she'll see them when they hit the Champion Assessment.
- ... She does see them again a bit earlier than that, however, turning up with Poppy (another Elite Four member) after the player has beaten their seventh gym. Nothing huge happens there, it's mostly to actually introduce Poppy.
- After this, the next time she's seen is when the player takes the Champion Assessment. Rika, fully in "work mode," conducts the interview portion of the assessment. Once the player has passed, she takes off her glasses, drops the formal language, and gets ready to battle, as the first of the Elite Four. Once she's beaten, she calls in Poppy... and once the third member, Larry, is beaten, she has to be the one to call in Hassel, because Larry just can't speak up enough for it. She's also the one doing most of the talking once Hassel has been defeated, telling the player what to expect next--battling Geeta, the Top Champion.
- Afterwards, Rika can be spotted among the people watching the player's battle against Nemona that concludes the Victory Road plotline.
- Rika's not seen again until late in the Indigo Disk arc of the DLC, where she and Geeta show up to talk to the students that have been assembled for the trip with Briar into Area Zero--a mostly off-limits area that the player visits as the final part of the plot of the main game, The Way Home.
- When the player talks to the two afterward, Rika is furious that the player (and friends) went into Area Zero the first time around without permission from the League and is about to give them the scolding of the century, but Geeta steps in to tell her to ease off. Rika reluctantly lets the issue go, then reminds Geeta that she had something to give to Briar. Once the item (a mysterious indigo disk) is handed over to the player, Rika expresses her wish that she could go along, but she has her own work to do, and tells the player to do their best but not to push themself too hard.

Canon Personality:
- Laidback, playful, and friendly; loves to tease and troll and poke fun
- Hassel in particular tends to act as though she doesn't/can't take much seriously--he describes her as farcial when introducing her and claims she's prone to clowning around in an interaction between the two later at Blueberry Academy; though in response to the former, she says she wasn't trying to be funny, and actually seems outright mildly offended by the latter.
- Actually pretty grounded (heh) and down to earth (HEH) compared to the other members of the Paldean Elite Four (then again, it's easy to seem like the relatively normal one when your competition is a man so frequently overcome with emotion to the point of tears, the absent-minded Top Champion, a literal child, and Larry).
- Tends to speak pretty frankly/directly
- Not much of a person for formalities (insists on people just calling her Rika--or "good ol' Rika" if they have to be formal, though that part's almost certainly just to mess with Grusha when he won't stop calling her "Ms. Rika")
- Can easily swap to "work mode" and back on a dime--she's professional when she needs to be
- Confident in her ability to assess people, and is genuinely pretty good at it--this is likely why she's in charge of the interview portion of the Champion Assessment
- By her own admission, she's the only member of the Paldean Elite Four who seems to be particularly productive/get anything done; enjoys talking and keeping things moving--this is likely why she gets annoyed at Hassel for his claim that she's prone to clowning around. (Poppy is excused, that's an entire child.)
- Fairly responsible, all things considered, questionable productivity of the Paldean Pokémon League aside, Rika's the one making sure things stay on track and that people stay on track. She's the one calling for Hassel to come in during the Champion Assessment because Larry's incapable of being loud enough, and she seems to be Geeta's minder to some extent, at one point recalling an incident where the woman showed up to work with a Glimmet tangled in her hair. In another conversation, Rika says that taking care of Geeta is a full-time job, to the point that she can't take on anything else. (... Now whether that point is actually true or if Rika's just saying it to get Tulip off of her back about a modeling job is up in the air, though Rika does have another instance of referring to herself as a babysitter and she tells the player that Geeta is surprisingly absentminded.)
- Wants to see other people succeed, seems to admire persistence/tenacity
- Her worrying often takes the form of anger/scolding (see: gearing up to read the player the riot act for going into Area Zero without permission before she's stopped by Geeta)

AU Name: Ricarda "Rika" Nakahara
AU Age: 30 (She doesn't have a canon age but this is my best guess for her in canon anyway)
AU Birthday: December 22nd

AU History:
- Born to a Spanish mother and Japanese father, Rika's childhood was... honestly fairly normal, all things considered.
- Not completely normal, mind you--ever since she was young, she had the ability to converse with animals. When she was young, her mother thought this sort of "playing pretend" was endearing, but was increasingly exasperated by it as Rika grew older. Rika eventually learned to keep it quiet from her mother, and ended up closer to her father as she grew up.
- (She also ended up bonding pretty strongly with her aunt, her cousin, and various other people on her mother's side of the family while growing up.)
- At some point in high school, Rika decided she wanted to become a veterinarian, figuring her ability to talk to animals could at least somewhat help.
- Of course, things couldn't be that easy. The plan got derailed soon after Rika started attending university. She took on an internship with Zodiac at her mother's suggestion.
- Unfortunately for Rika, bureaucratic error happened (she never learned what sort of bureaucratic error, but it was enough to keep her there).
- And so, because of this bureaucratic error, Rika's been stuck working at Zodiac as a full-time employee for years now. She's not happy about it, but work's work, and it's at least consistent.

AU Personality Differences:
It's a very different position Rika finds herself in here. Within the world of Pokémon, in most regions (side games aside), it's easiest to say that the Pokémon League of each region is the closest the region has to a governing body (Alola and Galar aside but this ain't about them). As one of the Elite Four, Rika in canon was near the top of this "might makes right" power structure in Paldea... and is very far from that sort of life in Kaisou. Not to mention, Zodiac isn't the quirky little family unit that the Paldean Elite Four and Top Champion are. Rika's friendly enough to most people in the office, but the people she actually likes are much more limited in number. It's not a fun time working here and it's very much not what she wanted to do with her life. She's a lot more exasperated and annoyed on a consistent basis.
